More than 94 percent of immigrants make the big cities of Canada their home. Toronto has become the most diverse city in North America and possibly the world with 44 percent of its population foreign-born, a figure higher than New York, Los Angeles, or Miami, according to the Statistics Canada report. Much of Canada’s diversity comes from immigration from Asia and the visible minority population will be one-fifth of Canada’s population by 2015, according to current trends. While most experts assert that this rich diversity will bring economic growth and vitality, especially to Canada’s big cities, it will also give rise to challenges. Among them will be ensuring equal opportunity in employment and wages, especially with the second generation of immigrant families. (ข้อมูลจาก – Institute for Global Ethics, Canada) |
